Our Position on Basic Riding Instruction.
We see time and time again with new students that
bring there horses with them for riding instructions, poorly trained
horses that they have purchased or horses with no training at all. A
lot of these students attend clinics from “Certified”
instructors. We try not to criticize other trainers or instructors but
enough is enough.
Whether you are a beginner rider on a well trained
horse or a beginner rider on a green horse all will start with basic
instruction in control at a walk. We insist that your gear fits and is
well adjusted and that you learn to use your hands first.
For those of you that have been to clinics that have
you trying to gain your seat first in a round pen with a lack of or
little control we will change that for you. We will help you to gain
control and give you the basics on turns, stops and back up on your first
lesson.
As you and your horse progress and you are soft with
hands we will start adding your seat and leg.
When you and your horse are comfortable we will
advance you to a jog (trot) and as you gain your balance you will learn
to use your seat and leg more in your turns and stops.
When you have exhibited proper control with fluid
turns and good stops we will advance you to a canter and as you lope
along again gaining your balance you will gain more control through
your seat and leg.
With this being done you are ready to move on to
bigger and better things if you choose.
We will sell you no books, videos or training tools.
We “Certify” no one to train horses or instruct. We allow
no peer pressure on our ranch. You are never singled out or rated.
Our program is for you to learn in a comfortable and
confident environment and we never let our students suffer
embarrassment of any sort.
We welcome youth and adult riders from beginners and
up.
